SK Planet just launched 11street in Thailand which also marks Korea's first business to establish an online marketplace in the Southeast Asian nation. The company just announced this latest development last Thursday.

The opening ceremony was attended by Korean actor Song Joong-ki as well as Thai actress Mew Nittha which was held at Central World in Bangkok. These two celebrities have been the two official models of the e-commerce platform.

SK Planet has also put advertisements up at the busy streets of Phrom Phong and Siam. Then apart from this, the leading e-commerce frim also plans to broadcast commercials in those places as well as per Korea Times.

In this case, Thailand is the fourth foreign market where the company has established its online mall. Apart from this country, this platform has already been debuted in Turkey last 2013, in Indonesia in 2014, and in Malaysia in 2015 taking the same name as 11street.

Because of its latest venture in Thailand, it gives SK Planet the chance to explore this kind of business in these major regions in the Southeast Asia. Thus, this helps the company boost its presence in the nation which has a population of 600 million.

Due to its experience in running the same platform in Korea, its branch in Thailand will provide customers several and broad range of excellent quality products at reasonable prices. What makes shopping in this platform more exciting is that the company will also offer a 360-degree view of the products for the buyers to look at the items even just using their mobile devices.

"We expect our entrance to Thailand will stimulate Korean manufacturers and ICT firms to make their presence felt in Southeast Asian markets," Jeon Hong-cheol quipped.

The e-commerce size in Thailand has been projected to double from $1.5 billion in 2016 to $4 billion in the year 2020. Aside from this, it has been expected that the mobile shopping will accumulate 45 percent of the country's e-commerce market by the year 2020 as reported by The Nation.

SK Planet just topped the e-commerce market in Turkey the previous year with regards to sales and the company expects that this can also happen in its 11street in Thailand.
