Various artists from South Korea will showcase their talents on SXSW 2017. South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual event that gathers together creative talents. It features music festivals as well as conferences and is usually held in March in Austin, Texas.

SXSW began in 1987 and has continued to grow in terms of scope and size each year. SXSW 2017 will be on Mar. 10 to 19. Specifically, K-Pop Night Out will be on Mar. 17 from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. at The Belmont.

The SXSW 2017 lineup for K-Pop Night Out includes Red Velvet, Hyolyn of SISTAR, punk-garage trio Galaxy Express, seminal Korean punk rockers No Brain, singer-songwriter Big Phony, and hip-hop pioneers Drunken Tiger joined by singer/rapper Yoonmirae. K-Pop Night Out started in 2013 and is organized by Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA).

"I think it's important to show off our own colors (as artists) Lee Sung-woo, No Brain's leader and vocalist, said. "Some Asian artists tend to get timid in a foreign country, but the music is a language in itself."

Last year, Epik High, Crayon Pop, Asian Chairshot, EE, Eastern Sidekick, Hitchhiker and the Barberettes represented K-Pop industry in the festival. No Brain and Galaxy Express also attended the event in 2016.

Other Korean artists such as Kim Ban-Jang and Windy City, Glen Check, Luna Lee, Neon Bunny and XXX will also take part in SXSW 2017. Korean artists who will be performing at U.K.'s The Great Escape are Sultan of the Disco, the Barberettes, and the Monotones, as well as rapper MC Sniper.

The Great Escape is a three-day music festival held in Brighton. It will be held on May 18 to 20.

SXSW Platinum and Music badge holders will be receiving primary access to K-Pop Night Out at SXSW 2017. Those who have Interactive and Film badges, as well as those who have Music Festival wristbands, will receive secondary admission.
