This new dashboard is called the Windows Defender Security Center which is indeed part of the Windows ecosystem since the days of Windows XP. But this new version is more than just your simple security center that blocks pop ups and sets up a firewall. The new Windows Defender Security Center will feature the "five pillars" of Windows 10 security. The pillars include virus and threat protection, device performance and health, firewall and network protection, app and browser control and family options.

This will all be accessible from a single screen which is departure from past incarnations. Gone are the days where you have to scour the control panel to find specific security options. With just one screen, every security features is organized and can be easily accessible. The dashboard will be able to access everything from battery usage stats to scheduled malware scans to time and purchase restrictions for your screens if you choose to limit their screen time and want to go to bed earlier.

The goal according to Microsoft is to help you become more informed and make safety simple. Keeping things clean and simple is important especially since not all users are computer savy. Its what make apple appealing to some user to which Windows seems to notice and follow now.
