Huawei Korea Appoints New CEO, Increase Brand Exposure

Chinese phone maker is looking to expand their presence in South Korea. As the next step towards their expansion, Huawei has appointed Shawn Meng who is a former chief operating officer of Huawei in Indonesia as the new Huawei Korea CEO.

The company has aimed to increase their presence in the Korean smartphone market which is currently dominated by Samsung and LG. The company trusts Meng will be right for the job. Huawei has plans to be global leader in the smartphone industry with Korea as one of their first steps in achieving their goal. The company believes in the new CEO capabilities who will ideally play a key role in making Korea a viable market for Huawei.

The newly appointed CEO of Huawei Korea says that he is very happy for his new position. He adds that the company is focusing on customer value through the advancement of information and communications technology infrastructure. He also says that he plans to cooperate with local partners for mutual growth.

Meng was very successful in his job when he was the COO of Huawei Indonesia. The executive is responsible for managing a $1.8 billion business. He joined Huawei back in 2007 and has since worked in wireless network engineering as well as sales operation.

Before joining Huawei, the new CEO worked at the Shenzen branch of China Telecom in core network design and wireless system sectors. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering at Wuhan University.

Huawei Korea is currently enjoying some success as it now has over 300 employees which is an increase of 12 people when it first opened its services in 2005. Its first official service center opened in Seoul last year.

So far, Huawei flagship smartphones are release on later date than China its main market. But it is expected that the company will soon release its flagship smartphones in Korea at the same time in China.
