Apple is headed for a busy March if rumors about an impending iPad event turn out to be true.

Japanese site MacOtakara reported that Apple is set on introducing four new iPad tablets at a major event in March. The shindig will allegedly place the spotlight on the iPad Pro and will unveil two new tablet sizes.

According to reports, the Cupertino-based company will be updating the current 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models with a sleek new shell and more powerful processors. Apple is said also to be gearing up for its first ever 7.9-inch and 10.5-inch iPad Pro 2 models.

There will undoubtedly be consumers who'll point out that Apple already has a 7.9-inch model, and it's true. However, that's from the iPad Mini 4 line. That size has never been offered in an iPad Pro model until now that is. The company has also never had a 10.5-inch Pro device.

It should be pointed out that MacOtakara has an impressive reputation when it comes to breaking news about Apple products. However, it remains to be seen whether the Apple-tracking site's streak will continue.

The MacOtakara report has also raised a lot of questions among Apple aficionados, as it appears the tech giant's alleged March event is focused solely on the iPad Pro. Some are confused as to why the company seems to be neglecting the more budget-friendly iPad Mini line and the mainstream iPad Air family. This is particularly worrying as the iPad Mini has not been upgraded in years.

There are also rumors that a red iPhone might also make its debut next month. However, some are of the opinion Apple would likely hold that for the expected launch of the proposed iPhone 7s later in the year.

It's possible that the March event will have a dual purpose. Aside from ushering in new iPad Pro models, it could also be the first event to be held at the company's new corporate headquarters, the Campus 2.
