China just initiated its retaliation against Korea over the deployment of a U.S. anti-missile system. But the issue gets worse as there is some fake news which is escalating and is confusing people.

It has been reported that anti-Korean fake news about the THAAD is confusing people and the video actually involves elementary school children. It can be recalled that China's retaliatory measures were initiated as parts of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system which arrived in Korea last March 7.

Lotte was the main target since the conglomerate signed a deal with the South Korea's Ministry of National Defense that gives permission to the military to use the company-owned golf course as the site for the THAAD battery as per Korea Times.

Last Match 3, fake news started to escalate about an interview which the Lotte chairman reportedly gave to Huanqiu newspaper. It was a feature on the video that Chinese are great profiteers and have no passion or backbone. It also added that Chinese are poor and will only buy products of Korea if they will lower their prices.

But a Chinese state-run newspaper, Guancha Syndicate revealed that the post in SNS was rather invented. It was also clarified that there is no newspaper called Huanqiu in Korea and that the interview with Shin did not actually take place.

Users of Weibo did not elaborate as to where and when the fake new originated. Then the Guancha Syndicate took notice that whether the news was fake or true seemed to be not relevant at all.

Guancha also added that some anti-Korean patriotism and resentment are behind this malicious fake news. This would only give the opponents a weapon to help them strike back at Korea.

The confusion over the fake news was triggered more by an online video which showed Chinese elementary holding ceremony wherein the students promised to boycott snacks offered and sold by Lotte.

The online video showed that these young students were shouting "Say No to snacks and Lotte" while holding their fists in the air.  Together with the students was a teacher who stood on the podium and shouted that shunning Lotte snacks would show true patriotism.

This video and so-called fake news became very controversial in China and Korea were also claiming that this was as well fake and would make the issue on THAAD worse.
