Naver just appointed Byun Dae-gyu and Han Seong-sook as the new chairman of the board and CEO respectively. The company confirmed this last Friday when it held its general meeting of shareholders and the board drirectors' meeting.

Byun, the newly appointed chairman of the board was also the chairman of the world's leading set-top box make Human Holdings. He will be the first chairman of the board who came from outside of the company.  Meanwhile, Naver founder Lee Hae-jin will be expected to focus on Naver's startup investment in Europe after leaving the chairmanship of the board.

Han, on the other hand will replace the former CEO Kim Sang-hun who had been the head of the company for eight long years. Han, with her new position will become the first woman CEO to lead the internet service provider. She joined Naver way back 2007. Before being appointed as the CEO, she led the development of the company like the key mobile services that include shopping, live streaming, and instant payment.

As reported on Korea Times, Han said that she will lead Naver while also listening to the opinions and views of the company's shareholders. She also elaborated her plan to improve and boost the company as main provider of technology platform using expanding support for content creators as well as small businesses.

Meanwhile, the outgoing CEO Kim said that Han is already doing great that's why he no longer needs to give her any kind of advice. But he assured that he will retire from the company but still continue to support and contribute to Naver by taking an advisory role.

So under Han's stewardship, Naver claimed last Friday that the company will invest 100 billion won in the YG Entertainment. This project will help the company develop various entertainment contents which include music. Apart from this, Naver also plans to boost its internet video streaming service which has been tagged as the "V Live."

With the new appointment of Byun and Han as the new chief decision-makers of Naver, this has been considered by the industry as something very important as it made a stark contrast to that of other Korean companies.
